😴 Garden 3 · Sleep
🌙 Night forest. Rest and sleep help the body and mind restore, recover, and prepare for what comes next. The body cannot live in harvest season forever.
👀 Notice: what helps your body recognize that the day is ending? What gets in the way of your rest?
🌱 Next small step: create one small cue for rest tonight.
🩺 Support: talk with your clinician about loud snoring, ongoing insomnia, or daytime sleepiness.
📚 What the evidence says
- 🟢 Seven or more hours. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the Sleep Research Society recommend that adults sleep 7 or more hours a night regularly. Regularly sleeping less is linked to weight gain, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, depression, and more errors and accidents. (Watson and colleagues, Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine, 2015)
- 🟢 Insomnia: therapy first. For chronic insomnia, the American College of Physicians recommends cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia as the first treatment for adults. (Qaseem and colleagues, Annals of Internal Medicine, 2016)
🟢 Strongest: randomized trials, reviews of trials or clinical guidelines · 🟡 Observational studies: they show a link, not proof of cause. Sources checked October 29, 2026.
