🌿 Kitchen Monk™ · Faith, nourishment, stewardship & community

A garden can nourish a whole community

Kitchen Monk believes Farm Days matters because people can come together around the living sources of nourishment: the land, the food we grow, the people who teach us, and the neighbors with whom we share it. We celebrate Ethos Farm Days and Dr. Ron Weiss as important influences on Nathanael’s journey.

🌱 God planted a garden: Kitchen Monk’s faith reflection

“And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden”

Genesis 2:8, King James Version — excerpt

For Kitchen Monk, the Garden of Eden reminds us that nourishment, meaningful work, and care for creation belong together. Nathanael sees Dr. Ron Weiss’s work at Ethos as a beautiful modern expression of that garden vision: growing food, tending the land, gathering in community, and helping people flourish.

Genesis 2:15 gives humanity responsibility for tending and caring for the garden. For Kitchen Monk, that invitation becomes a call to cultivate, protect, share, and serve. Growing food and caring for our neighbors can be everyday expressions of faith and compassion.

We honor Dr. Ron Weiss for helping make this garden vision tangible through his work with food, farming, education, and clinical care. This is Nathanael’s reflection on why Ethos inspires him.

People of every faith and of no religious tradition are warmly welcome at our table.

🩺 Honoring Dr. Ron Weiss and the Ethos vision

Dr. Ron Weiss is a physician, botanist, farmer, and founder of Ethos Primary Care and Ethos Farm Project. His work brings farming and clinical care into the same setting. Ethos also describes educational programs for future physicians and farmers.

Nathanael remembers his time at Ethos Primary Care with gratitude. Learning in a place where the farm and the practice could be part of the same conversation helped shape the vision he now carries through Kitchen Monk and Flourishing Nursing.

Bring a little of the garden home

Grow and learn

Meet the people who grow food. Ask about a familiar vegetable, a new seasonal ingredient, or a small planting you could try.

Pause and notice

Make room for a quiet moment outdoors, a grateful prayer, or a mindful pause that fits your own beliefs and circumstances.

Gather and share

Invite someone to prepare a simple plant-based meal, share a harvest, or bring a nourishing dish to a community table.

Carry it forward

Thank a farmer, encourage a student, support a community garden, or help a neighbor find a welcoming place to begin.

🌿 Keep learning and find your next gathering

Use Ethos’s official events calendar for newly announced activities, registration, and visitor details. The 2022 photograph and trailer on this page are a historical remembrance.

🪔 With gratitude

May what we grow become nourishment. May what we learn become service. May the care we receive become care we give.
