Kitchen Monk™ (“Kitchen Monk,” “we,” “us”) respects your privacy. This page explains what information we collect through kitchenmonk.org, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, email us at rfjeep@gmail.com.
Information We Collect
Community Map sign-ups. When you join the Kitchen Monk Community Map, we collect the information you choose to submit: your name, email address, country, ZIP or postal code, optional city, how you describe yourself (for example, community member or nurse), your interests, how you would like to participate, optional organization details, optional comments, how you heard about us, and your consent choices.
Email updates. If you subscribe to updates, we collect your email address to send you news about Kitchen Monk programs, events, and books.
Contact, feedback, and interest forms. When you use our Contact form, the Help Shape Flourishing Nursing form, or the Faith Communities “Invite Us In” form, we collect what you choose to submit, such as your name, email address, role, location, organization or congregation name, and your comments. The Faith Communities form also offers an optional field for your faith tradition or denomination. Sharing it is entirely your choice; we use it only to understand which communities are interested and to respect each tradition’s practices, and we never display it publicly. These forms are for people 18 and older.
Basic site statistics. Our website is hosted on WordPress.com, which collects standard visit statistics (such as pages viewed) to help us understand how the site is used.
Hosting, cookies, and service providers. kitchenmonk.org runs on WordPress.com, operated by Automattic. When you visit, WordPress.com and its Jetpack tools may automatically receive technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and referring site, and may use cookies, to operate and secure the site, count visits, filter spam from forms (for example, through Akismet), and deliver email updates if you subscribe. These providers handle that information under their own policies, including Automattic’s Privacy Policy. Links to other sites, such as Amazon or social media, take you to services with their own privacy practices. Public comments are turned off on our pages. Our site does not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals, because there is not yet a common standard for honoring them.
What we do not want. Please do not send us medical records, diagnoses, medications, or other private health information through this website. The Community Map is a community-interest registry, not a medical record or clinical service.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to build the Kitchen Monk community, understand where interest in our programs is growing, plan programs and partnerships, and create combined (aggregate) maps and statistics. We contact you only in the ways you agreed to on the sign-up form, such as email updates, volunteering, research opportunities, or partnerships. Each of these choices is separate and optional.
What Is Public
Kitchen Monk does not display your name, email address, phone number, exact location, or faith tradition publicly. Any public Community Map is designed to show only approximate, combined community areas and totals rather than individual people, and small groups may be combined into larger areas to reduce the chance that anyone could be identified. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you share, and we limit access to the people who need it to run Kitchen Monk.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. Your information is stored with the service providers that run our website (WordPress.com), and, when the full Community Map is launched, it may be moved into a dedicated Kitchen Monk Community Map system with similar privacy protections. We may disclose information if required by law.
Links to Other Sites
Our site links to other websites, such as Amazon for our books. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which apply when you visit them.
Age Requirement
The Community Map is for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Keeping and Removing Your Information
We keep your information only as long as it is useful for the purposes above. You can ask us at any time to update your information, stop emails, remove you from the Community Map, or delete your information by emailing rfjeep@gmail.com. Unsubscribing from emails does not remove you from the Community Map unless you ask us to.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as Kitchen Monk grows. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page.
