Kitchen Monk · How we work
Kitchen Monk shares stories, cooking ideas, and health education. This page explains how that information is made, what it can and can’t do, and how to tell us when something needs fixing.

Health information
Everything on this website is general education. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and reading it does not create a patient–clinician relationship. Kitchen Monk is not a clinical service, and messages sent through this site are not monitored for urgent health needs.
If you think you may be having an emergency, call your local emergency number right away. For questions about your own health, food needs, or medicines, please talk with your own clinician, registered dietitian, or care team.
Please don’t use anything on this site to start, stop, or change a prescription, medication, or treatment without guidance from your own clinician. Individual needs differ. If you live with a medical condition, food allergies, pregnancy, a disability, an eating disorder, medications affected by diet, or significant dietary restrictions, a clinician or registered dietitian can help you decide whether and how any idea here fits you. Words like “medicine” and “healing” sometimes appear in our stories and reflections as metaphors; they are not promises of clinical results.

Stories and science
The EVERgreen Chronicles are stories. Their characters, symbols, and places help make health ideas memorable, but a story is never evidence that something works. Where we share health information, we aim to label it clearly so you know whether you are reading a story, practical guidance, or a summary of research.
Some content draws on Christian faith and biblical imagery. It is offered for those who value it; the health, cooking, and community resources are for everyone and never require religious belief.
Sources and review
When we summarize health information, we look first to government health agencies, major professional organizations, systematic reviews, consensus statements, and peer-reviewed research. We try to say plainly when evidence is limited, early, or applies only to certain groups of people.
As health pages are added, each will show who wrote it, whether and by whom it was reviewed, and when it was last reviewed. We will only list a reviewer when a review actually took place.
Our health-page review standard
Each Kitchen Monk page that gives health information ends with an About this page box like this:
Written by: the author’s name and credentials, and whether AI assisted with drafting
Clinically reviewed by: the clinician who reviewed the health content
Independent external review: an outside reviewer’s name, or “Not yet completed”
Last updated: month and year of the last meaningful review
Key sources: the main references used, linked where possible
Send a correction · How we review health information
We never list a reviewer who didn’t actually review the page, and we never describe our own review as independent or peer-reviewed. Stories, fiction, memoir, and tribute pages don’t carry this box, because they aren’t health guidance. Read our full review policy →
Some pages link to resources made by other organizations, such as the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ Practical Plant-Based Cooking guide. Linking to a resource does not mean that organization endorses Kitchen Monk, and it does not mean Kitchen Monk wrote their material.
How we use AI
Kitchen Monk uses AI tools to help with some illustrations, design, drafting, and editing. A person reviews AI-assisted work before it is published. Story characters may appear in AI-assisted artwork; real people are shown in real photographs whenever possible, and we will not present generated images as photos of real people or events.
Our first reader noticed that The Book of the Lamp could only have come from this moment in time, partly because of AI, while still carrying a very human message. We think that is exactly right. Technology is a tool here, never the heart. Technology helps build the lantern. People provide the light. The caregiving, the imagination, the relationships, and the purpose behind Kitchen Monk are human, and they always will be.
People, partners, and links
We describe relationships with people and organizations as they actually are. Naming someone as an inspiration, mentor, or source does not mean they endorse Kitchen Monk. We do not display an organization’s logo or call someone a collaborator without their agreement.
Money. Kitchen Monk does not currently receive any money, commissions, affiliate payments, sponsorships, or free products from the businesses or resources mentioned on this site. If that ever changes, we will say so clearly on the page where the business appears. The Book of the Lamp, by Kitchen Monk’s founder, is free to read on Kindle; book links go to Amazon, an outside store. Some resources we mention are paid products from independent businesses, and each is labeled PAID · INDEPENDENT RESOURCE where it appears. When Kitchen Monk or its founder has a personal connection to something we mention, such as Chef Robin Jeep’s connection to Enliven Foods, we say so on that page.
Names, trademarks, and recognition
Other organizations’ names. This site mentions programs, organizations, books, and brands that belong to others, including the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine and its Food for Life program and Nurses Nutrition Network, the American Nurses Association and Healthy Nurse, Healthy Nation™, the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, the International Council of Nurses, Plantspiration®, and the books we recommend. We use these names only to identify and credit them accurately. All trademarks belong to their owners. Unless a page says otherwise in plain words, none of these organizations or people is affiliated with, partnered with, sponsoring, or endorsing Kitchen Monk, Flourishing Nursing, or any Kitchen Monk program.
Kitchen Monk’s own names. Names such as Kitchen Monk™ and The EVERgreen Chronicles™ are used by Kitchen Monk’s founder. Unless a page states that a name is a registered trademark (®), it is not registered. Kitchen Monk frameworks are original to Kitchen Monk and are never official curricula, certifications, or programs of any organization that inspired them.
People we recognize. We sometimes thank nurses, educators, and leaders whose public work inspires us. We describe them using information they or their organizations have made public, we don’t use their photos or quotations without permission, and recognizing someone never means they endorse us. If you are named on this site and would like anything corrected, changed, or removed, email rfjeep@gmail.com and we will act on it promptly.
Rights holders. If you believe anything on this site uses your name, trademark, or creative work improperly, please contact us at the same address and we will review it right away.
Accessibility
We want this site to work for everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, zoom, or high-contrast settings. We are working toward the WCAG 2.2 AA guidelines. If something is hard to use, please tell us at rfjeep@gmail.com, and let us know the page and what happened.
Corrections
If you spot a factual error, a broken link, an outdated source, or someone credited incorrectly, we’d be grateful to hear about it.
