Aloha Seagulls → Ohana Seagulls

Some days change what a name means. In The Book of the Lamp, the seagulls who once called aloha across the water come to be known as the Ohana Seagulls, a name that speaks of family and of belonging to one another.

The change happens through remembrance. Remembering the people who carried us does not erase the distance or the loss. It can, though, turn separation into belonging, and help us see that those we miss are still part of who we are.

How that day unfolds, and who is remembered, is waiting inside the book.

Aloha and ohana are Hawaiian words. The story uses them with respect for their meaning and for the Hawaiian culture they come from.
