Every lamp in The EVERgreen Chronicles was lit by someone else first. The series draws inspiration from family, teachers, nurses, mentors, and communities whose care shaped Nathanael’s understanding of what it means to serve.
Some of them appear in the story in transformed ways, as an owl, a ship, or a lamp. Their real lives are honored on the pages below, and their example lives on in the everyday work of Kitchen Monk™: feeding people, teaching, walking alongside, and being there when it matters.
