Short: A Pacific Northwest story of nursing, family, remembrance, food, faith, community, and flourishing.

Medium: The Book of the Lamp, Book I of The EVERgreen Chronicles, follows a lamp of care from Florence Nightingale’s Crimea to the Oregon Coast and the family kitchen. Part story, part remembrance, it imagines a world where nurses, grandparents, children, and whole communities carry light for one another.

Long: The Book of the Lamp is more than a conventional health book and more than a conventional children’s fantasy. Set in an imagined Pacific Northwest of tide pools, evergreen forests, and coastal fog, it brings together family legacy, nursing history, faith, grief and restoration, and the everyday power of shared meals. Readers meet Willow Owl, the Ohana Seagulls, and KENSPEED, a rainbow-glistening vessel of remembrance inspired by the historic Peter Iredale shipwreck. Written by a nurse practitioner and lifestyle medicine professional, the book invites readers of all ages to remember who carried the light before them, and to carry it forward.
