The Nursing Lamp

From bedside care to community flourishing.

🏛️ HISTORICAL FACT

Florence Nightingale and the Lamp

During the Crimean War in the 1850s, Florence Nightingale led a group of nurses caring for wounded British soldiers. Her night rounds with a lamp earned her the name “the Lady with the Lamp.” Her lasting influence, though, came from what she practiced and taught: careful observation, cleanliness and sanitation, the use of data to improve care, and the formal education of nurses.

Her legacy of nursing service provides historical inspiration for The Book of the Lamp. It does not mean she endorsed Kitchen Monk, Flourishing Nursing, or modern lifestyle medicine.

Story and Profession: Two Different Things

The EVERgreen Chronicles is a literary and educational project. Flourishing Nursing is a developing professional nursing community with its own home at FlourishingNursing.org. The story helps explain why the professional work matters, but the novel is not clinical evidence.
